What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT). It is a minimally-invasive procedure which uses a device with very fine needles consisting of different depths that create openings or channels that cause slight injury to the top layer of the skin. This process triggers your own body’s natural wound healing response by sending fibroblasts to create new collagen and elastin for improved skin tissue. By encouraging the skin to make new tissue, with increased collagen, it allows the skin to thicken, improving the texture of the skin resulting in firmer, smoother, more radiant looking skin for an overall more youthful appearance.

Microneedling & PRP – Game Changer!
Microneedling when combined with PRP has been clinically proven to be more effective in stimulating your collagen production by applying your own platelet rich blood. Platelets help blood clot to effectively heal wounds and injuries. PRP is rich in proteins such as growth factors and cytokines which are vital in helping skin tissue repair itself. Here’s how the process works; our nurse will take your own blood sample and then use a device called a centrifuge that spins the blood to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood. Microneedling is done in conjunction to the application of the PRP to encourage collagen production and cell reproduction.
Microneedling with PRP is designed to stimulate collagen in the body which is a process, therefore, you can expect to see continued skin improvements in the weeks following your treatment. Several sessions of these combined treatments are also recommended to combat the signs of aging and show significant skin improvement.
What Can I Expect During My Microneedling Treatment?
In advance of your treatment, we apply a medical grade topical numbing cream to the areas of your skin being treated. We then apply our microneedling pen to the skin in a gliding motion using multiple depths of small sterile needles to gently puncture the skin to start the natural production of your bodies own collagen for improved skin texture. Your session should take approximately between 20-30 minutes. Immediately after your treatment, your skin may appear to be slightly red and feel mildly sensitive (similar to a sunburn). This will dissipate within 48-72 hours. You will be provided with the appropriate post-treatment care and instructions to maximize the results of your treatment.
How Often Should I Do Microneedling?
While your skin will show an instant revitalized appearance immediately after your treatment, clinical studies show that best results are usually apparent in a few months with better results at 6 months than at 1 month.
